He has assisted several companies through the voluntary administration procedure, from small businesses to publicly listed companies.
George has also provided long-term management consulting services through the Australian Government to the Cocos Island Co-operative Society, which was the business arm of the Cocos (Keeling) Island community. This role, which drew on his commercial skills and ready grasp of business issues was a consultative role to the management committee of the Co-operative and encompassed all aspects of business management, concentrating in the areas of marketing, economic research and development, accounting, industrial relations and operations management. The Co-operative was involved in the retail, hospitality, construction, agribusiness, tourism, stevedorage and labour sub-contract industries.
George was often called upon to negotiate, on behalf of the Co-operative Society, with various government departments and to engage in discussions with the various parliamentary sub-committees and Commonwealth Grants Commission teams that visited the islands.
Just prior to leaving the islands, George was requested to investigate the possibility of computerising the stamp issues system for the Cocos Islands Philatelic Bureau, which sold stamps to clients worldwide. George was able to analyse, design, programme, test, document and install the system in the space of four months, using the Smart suite of software. This "temporary" system was used for three years before being upgraded.
Committed to giving a consistent top quality performance to his clients, George adds to his professional skills and abilities through his participation as a founding member and President of the WA Chapter of the Australia-Malaysia Business Council. He is a Past President of the Lions Club of Bull Creek a former District Chairman for the Lions Youth of the Year Quest and the District Coordinator for Youth Projects. active member of his church, George has sat on various Parish Councils
and is currently a reader and special Minister of the Eucharist, besides
spending some time singing as a cantor and with the Music Ministry.
Altough he loves singing, George's musical career may be held back by
a lack of musical talent.
George considers himself too old for active sport, but can be seen occasionally honing his Tae Kwon Do skills, or pedalling his racing bike along the streets of Perth.
